    A request!

Greetings to everyone! I'm new at this site and am looking forward to meeting and talking to some of you. What a warm and welcoming place this feels like!

Thanks to those of you who have accepted my friend requests and to those who will in the future.

If you don't mind, I have a request right off the bat, and I appreciate in advance any advice you might have for me.

I was just diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and my couselor told me that for the type that I have, a high protein diet would be very beneficial.

I have always followed a more grain-based diet and leaned towards vegetarianism. I may never be completely vegetarian, but the thought of MORE meat is unthinkable to me.

I did find that a classic soy patty (like Bocca) is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, and I can eat eggs and cheeses.

So my request is this - for any of you to share with me any thoughts for what I can eat that will be less meat, more protein, less carbohydrates (I know a lot of grains can be high protein too, like Quinoa). Any recipes or ideas will be so appreciated. Thanks! Lori

Not quite along the lines of what you are asking but wanted to let you know that coffee is very good for people dealing with ADHD. Unlike the rest of us where it makes us hyper if we have too much, the caffeine actually mellow out and helps to focus people who are ADHD

Just wanted to add that things like nuts and beans are high in protein and can make a good substitute for meat in several recipes. Also granola and protein bars might help, they're tasteless but, kinda filling for a snack.

I was reading your blogs and noticed that you were asking for an alternative to meat to get protein, Well i do know that TOFU has very high protein base but only thing is Tofu has no flavor. But on the bright side of that you can add just about what ever flavor you would like to the TOFU just by either mixing other veggies with it or spices or you can soak it in some kind of broth kinda like a marinade. there are several different kind of tofu depending on what you like , there is really soft, firm, or extra firm. Give it a try and see what you can come up with.

    Bright blessings
